Wooden Model of Cutter Ship ROGER B. TANEY NY 1833 in Glass & Wood Display Case

Offered for your consideration today is this high quality model of the Roger B. According to Wikipedia, the United States Revenue Cutter Taney was one of the 13 cutters of the Morris-Taney class. These cutters were the backbone of the Revenue Cutter Service for more than a decade. Samuel Humphreys designed these cutters for roles as diverse as fighting pirates, privateers, combating smugglers and operating with naval forces. This particular example is a wooden model with what appears to be a copper hull. As you can see, it is very detailed, with elaborate riggings and flags. This heavy model is housed in a glass and wooden case with interestingly dovetailed corners. The case measures approximately 20" by 24.5" by 11.5.
